a world-leader in technology commercialization

More than 120 hydroprocessing units licensed since 2000

Commercialization

In 2012, ARA entered into a Joint Development and License Agreement (JDA) with CLG, to commercialize and license the CH technology for the production of ReadiFuelsTM. CLG is a 50:50 joint venture between Chevron, a leader and innovator in hydroprocessing technology, and CB&I, a leading international engineering company. CLG has signed over 120 hydroprocessing technology licenses in over 70 countries in the last decade with over 3,000,000 feed barrels processed per annum. CLG has previously completed over 6,300 projects, and CLG technologies are currently used to hydroprocess 47% of finished fuels worldwide.

Since 2012, ARA has worked with CLG on scaling the Catalytic Hydrothermolysis technology and integration of CLG technology and catalysts (ISOCONVERSIONTM) to provide a seamless hydroprocessing step for the production of finished fuels. Catalytic Hydrothermolysis, together with CLG’s ISOCONVERSIONTM hydroprocessing technology, makes up the Biofuels ISOCONVERSIONTM (BIC) technology.

In 2015-2016, using the 4200 gal/day demonstration system, ARA produced and delivered over 160,000 gallons of our ReadiJetTM and ReadiDieselTM renewable fuels to the Defense Logistics Agency, for U.S. Military Specification (MILSPEC) certification testing by the U.S. Navy. As part of that testing, the Navy operated a Spruance Class Destroyer on 100% ReadiDieselTM from San Diego to Port Hueneme and the Secretary of the Navy flew in an EA-18G Growler on 100% ReadiJetTM (one of nine EA-18G flights), out of Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The Navy also tested ReadiJetTM in V-22 Osprey flights. Navy testing showed no perceivable difference in performance compared to petroleum jet fuel, in both diesel and jet fuel testing. MILSPEC certification testing of our renewable fuels by the U.S. Navy is on track for completion in early CY 2018.
